There is a scene in "The Big Lebowski The Dude, where it says (is the memory, maybe not accurate)," It's like Lenin said, "You look at the person who benefits and uhh ...." He will interrupted before he could bring his thoughts to an end, but it is believed that something makes sense if you try to figure out what something is happening, is caused, you should find out the results obtained. I wonder if someone could point to a particular job or a passage from Lenin, that this could be a clue. Thx

I do not know anything about Lenin, but it is a version of the classic Latin: "Cui bono?" ( "Who benefits?"). This means exactly what you think - take to solve a crime, first try to benefit from it. Wikipedia says that Cicero said Judge Ravilla first of his reputation.
